Veterans Care Association | Timor Awakening Location: Timor Leste Date: Saturday, April 20 – Wednesday, May 1 Timor Awakening is inspired by the resilience of World War II Commandos and the courageous Timorese veterans. This program focuses on nurturing the mind, body, and soul to assist veterans and their partners in finding a renewed purpose and inner peace along with developing a personal health and wellbeing plan. Waves of Wellness Surfing Experience (WOWSE) Location: Kirra Beach, Gold Coast Date: Wednesday, May 1 – Wednesday, June 19 Location: Noosa Beach, Sunshine Coast Date: Thursday, May 2 – Thursday, June 20 Location: Nobby’s Beach, Newcastle (NSW) Date: Tuesday, May 7 – Tuesday, July 2 Location: Avoca Beach, Central Coast (NSW) Date: Wednesday, May 8 – Wednesday, July 3 A free eight-week evidence-based learn-to-surf program for veterans. It facilitates functional recovery while promoting social inclusion, engagement, and enhanced quality of life. The primary focus of the program is to introduce surfing to participants as a way to improve physical health, mental health, and well-being in a neutral, non-intrusive environment. PTSD Resurrected | Reboot Recovery Location: Online Date: Wednesday, May 8 – Friday, May 10 Reboot Recovery Intensive is a short course that provides practical help for veterans and their families, addressing the internal values conflict and spiritual wounds of service. Happy Paws Happy Hearts | Defence Families Program Location: RSPCA, Dakabin Dates: Saturday, May 11 – Saturday, July 20 Families will participate in regular group dog training sessions with RSPCA Queensland rescue animals and along the way, the program aims to improve individual and family communication, wellbeing, and engagement. 4 Aussie Heroes | Triumph Over Trauma Location: Boonah Date: Sunday, May 12 – Friday, May 24 Triumph over Trauma is an 11-day live-in program delivered in a rural environment specifically for military and first responder personnel, past and present, who are struggling with PTSD and related mental health issues. The program is facilitated through a combination of evidence-based and evidence-informed sessions and activities. This program intake is full. Operation PTSD Support | Respite Retreat Location: Coolangatta Date: Monday, May 20 – Sunday, May 26 Through Operation PTSD Support, partners can take a break from the stress of caring for their loved one, share experiences with others who are in a similar situation, and learn more about PTSD and mental health first aid. Survive To Thrive Nation Location: Online Modules The STTN Program is an online evidence-based program with a focus on proactive health and wellbeing for transitioning veterans. The program consists of eight interactive self-paced personal development modules, focussing on topics such as purpose, resilience, indoctrination, stigma, social support, motivation, self-discipline, meditation and exercise, and crisis management, and supported by peer mentors with lived experience. The RSLQ funded program is open to veterans who have recently transitioned (up to 5 years) or current serving who have a confirmed transition date. Learn More |
