The Royal Australian Regiment, and all who served with Terry are saddened by the loss of one of our most respected warriors in service and after service as a military historian and a pioneer in establishing the Regiment’s bibliography
Terry passed away suddenly in the Nepean Hospital. We offer our condolences to Margaret and their Family.
Terry’s military service (1957-1991) is extensive in both the Australian Regular Army (1957-1979) and The Australian Army Reserve (1980 – 1991) that included Recruit training (RTB) into Artillery to the Officer Cadet School graduating into Infantry and service in 2 RAR (Australia and Vietnam), HQ 1 ATF (Vietnam), Infantry Centre, 8 RAR, 6 RAR, and Training Command and multiple Reserve units in Victoria before ending his military career at the Infantry Centre Development Staff, Singleton.
He was a Councillor of the Military Historical Society of Australia (MHSA). He was prominent in the field of military history, amassing a personal knowledge of immense importance, especially about the RAR and was a vital member of the RAR Bibliography Team.
His funeral service will be held at Leura Memorial Gardens on Wednesday 16th April commencing at 11.00 am. The Service will be lived-streamed (details to follow).
Terry, your Duty and Honour (The Corp’s motto) and Duty First (The RAR’s motto) has been done. Rest in Peace noble warrior.
A Warrior’s Farewell – Homeward Bound
For our Mates
I saw the shooting star burning so bright.
Falling, falling, fading and soon from sight.
So distant and yet so near,
In its wake, a soldier’s journey so very clear,
Duty, sharing, caring, courage and sometimes fear.
No longer a mortal in life’s short race,
A contented spirit bound for home somewhere in distant space.
This fiery trail I saw tonight marks a warrior’s farewell,
Leaving behind another legacy of proud deeds to tell.
